A French Air Force Mirage 2000-5 fighter jet crashed this Thursday, November 3 in the Luxeuil-les-Bains region in the early afternoon.
The pilot, belonging to the Cigogne squadron of the air base 116 of Luxeuil-Saint Sauveur, is unscathed. He managed to eject. The accident took place just 5 km from the air base #116.
“The aircraft, which crashed in a wooded area, was back from a mission, it was unarmed and did not cause any damage to the ground. The area is currently being secured.
Investigations by security and judiciary are open to shed light on the reasons for this accident ,” the army said in its statement.
