Egyptian Air Force to purchase 12 new CH-47F Chinooks from Boeing

Boeing was awarded a contract by the U.S. Air Force to produce 12 new units of CH-47F Chinook helicopters for the Egyptian Air Force.

In its announcement dated January 3, 2022, Boeing said that the foreign military will cost $426 million.

The Egyptian Air Force will upgrade its current fleet of CH-47D aircraft with the newer, more modern F-model, complete with its advanced multi-mission capabilities.

The CH-47F contains a fully integrated, digital cockpit management system, Common Avionics Architecture System cockpit and advanced cargo-handling capabilities complementing the aircraft’s mission performance and handling characteristics.

“The F-model aircraft will enhance Egypt’s Chinook capabilities and help effectively accomplish its heavy-lift objectives,” Ken Eland, vice president and H-47 program manager for Boeing said in a statement.

“Boeing’s partnership with the Egyptian Air Force remains strong as we continue to work together to modernize their fleet,” Eland added.

Team Chinook is led by the U.S. Army, who collectively operate a fleet of more than 950 aircraft with its 19 allied international customers.

The United States Defense Security Cooperation Agency (DSCA) approved a potential Foreign Military Sale of 23 Boeing CH-47F Chinook helicopters to Egypt back in May 2022.
